Muker is a village and civil parish at the western end of Swaledale, one of the Yorkshire Dales, in North Yorkshire, England. In the village is Swaledale Woollens, a shop of hand-crafted knitwear.

Jack and Ennis are two sheep herding cowboys in the 1997 short story titled Brokeback Mountain written by Annie Proulx. In the story, set in 1963, they develop an emotional relationship with each other. The story was made into a 2005 movie which received numerous critical acclaims including 3 Academy Awards.

Angela Lansbury starred as Nellie Lovett in the 1979 Broadway musical Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, written by Stephen Sondheim. In the story, she bakes meat pies from the dead bodies murdered by barber Sweeny Todd. The original Broadway production won 8 Tony awards.

Lady Godiva was an English noblewoman who, according to a legend dating at least to the 13th century, rode naked, covered only in her long hair, through the streets of Coventry to gain a remission of the oppressive taxation that her husband imposed on his tenants.
