Mesdag Panorama is a panorama by Hendrik Willem Mesdag, housed in a purpose-built museum in The Hague. The panorama is a cylindrical painting (also known as a Cyclorama) more than 45 feet high and about 125 feet in diameter. [source Wikipedia] Although the Cyclorama is on the perimeter wall, the sand and chair in this section of the artwork are real whereas the town in the background is the painting. During my visit the guide walked out to the chair and sat down, thereby magically becoming part of the painting. |
